Four people talk about working from home

Working from home versus working in an office

Marta

I started working from home two years ago, and at first I was genuinely enthusiastic. I could begin early, take a short break to make lunch, and I didn’t waste time on the bus. The surprise was how much more focused I became when I turned off notifications and set a clear plan for the day. However, it isn’t perfect. After a few months I felt a bit isolated, especially on days with no meetings. I also noticed I was working longer hours because my laptop was always nearby. Now I recommend a mixed routine: two or three days at home, the rest in the office. I book a desk in advance, and I plan social time the same way I plan tasks. If you’re new to remote work, my advice is to create a separate workspace, even if it’s just a corner of the kitchen table.
